DULZURA BRUSHFIRE (NOW IN MOP-UP)

A fast moving brushfire broke out this morning in Dulzura. IPN originally reported the location as Descanso, so I was late getting the info out. At least one home burned, but by about 12:30 forward progress had stopped and firefighters were starting mop-up procedures.

400 acres. 5% contained. Winds expected to die down tonight, and shift more northerly tomorrow. Good for Deerhorn.

While the Dulzura fire attack was still in full response this morning, fire broke out along both sides of Alpine Blvd. in Alpine, immediately south of I-8. The fire has now jumped I-8 in places (mostly just to the median). I-8 is still open, but looks like just one lane in each direction. Most of the ramps are closed, except to those evacuating.

Homes near Alpine Albertson's have been told to evacuate immediately. Winds are building, and fires have been spotting out ahead of the main burn. Multiple homes are currently on fire. CALFIRE is in full-response.

Live reporting and video is now running on KUSI Channel 51.

1700 SDG&E customers are currently without power. Get prepared. No information on restoration. Electrical system has been damaged. Could be hours or days.
