FIRE GRANT MEETING TOMORROW 10:00 AM — FIRE GRANT SCORES SURVEY LINK

FIRE GRANTS MEETING

TOMORROW, SATURDAY, 2/3

Deerhorn Valley Fire Station

10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

PLEASE ATTEND.  INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE SPFMG

Sharing your three "Survey Scores" will help us hold the Fire Grant Committee accountable for its "new" scoring system.  Unfortunately, it is structured so that a first-time applicant in suburban Alpine will likely have priority over a rural homeowner who is responsible about creating, maintaining, and improving their fire safety each year.
Many thanks for your participation.

SURVEY OF FIRE SCORES:

This is a 58-year program. Critical decisions have been made behind closed doors that resulted in qualifying over 13,000 homes for grants... homes like these.
The DVCA is building a paper trail.  These grants were intended for the homeowners most at risk of a fire igniting along the overhead portions of the Sunrise Powerlink.  That never meant homes like these— where the Powerlink lines run underground.

I think you'll agree:
Thousands of  homes like these were granted eligibility for the very-limited Grant Funds by the Grant Committee (SPFMG).  Behind closed doors.  For FIVE YEARS!

We don't thinks homes like these Central Alpine should be eligible for Defensible Space Grants.

These homes are protected by undergrounded transmission lines, paved roads, easy evacuation access, tiny lots with no need for defensible space, and a fire station and equipment a stone's throw away. What has happened to the Defensible Mitigation Grant Fund is appalling.

· Paved streets
· HOA-provided maintenance including streets and defensible space.

· Sidewalks and walkways
· Grounds maintenance
· Irrigated landscaping
· Tree trimming, removal, etc.
· Trash Pickup and dumpster service
· Enforcement: HOA can levy liens for trash/debris/ & other fire dangers
· Clay tile roofs and stucco exteriors.
· Concrete driveways
· Individual lots are < 0.16 acres  [not required to have defensible space... not enough to defend!]

More info coming your way.  See you on Saturday!
