SOME LOCAL CRIME STATS... Why we live where we live.

There is an interesting online tool out there called CrimeMapping.com  I pulled up the last 4 weeks of reported crimes and this one picture probably answers why a lot of us love living where we do.

Obviously our population density is far lower than in town, and we have few commercial areas likely to experience petty crimes (shoplifting, grafitti, for example).

The map for the last month shows just two crime incidents in the Honey Springs/Deerhorn/Lyons/Lawson areas during that time: An arrest for underage drinking/driving (2 actual persons in the car), and a controlled substance arrest.  I didn't count the 4 crimes reported at Otay Lakes Rd and Hwy 94.  All were for Possession of a controlled substance (4 individuals on 3 separate dates)

The app is free, and you can sign up for crime alerts up to a two-mile radius.  Just thought I'd share.

NOTE: This covers Sheriff only, so DUI on HWY 94 would be a CHP report I believe, not SDSO and not included here.  There is also some kind of regulation or safety issue that prevents law enforcement from having a Drunk Driving Checkpoint on 94.
