OUR HOODED ORIOLES HAVE ARRIVED!

FIRST REPORTS OF HOODED ORIOLES!

Sandra Ignosci reports a pair of Hooded Orioles has made their appearance today near The Elenas.

These warm-weather visitors are such a delight.  They will feed on sugar water (1sugar : 3water) along with the hummers. Just remove one or more of the bee cages or little flowers to allow their beaks to fit. They like fresh fruit too— orange slices placed where the ants won't find them.

With all the rain and the blooms that are about to burst, I hope we see a big resurgence in our bird populations this year!  Our mud swallows haven't yet returned, but always do on or about St. Joseph's Day (tomorrow, March 19th!)
