HEAD ON CRASH CAUSING LONG DELAYS ON 94 and OTAY LAKES RD

At approximately 10:30 AM this morning, a large semi truck overturned in the curves of SR-94 west of Dulzura (near Marron Valley Rd).  It crashed head-on into an automobile. SR-94 has been closed for more than six hours now.  Temperatures were ranging from 100-105 in the area, and are still over 100°.   Cars are pulled alongside the road, and the CHP is turning around any car attempting to drive on the wrong side to get to the next turnoff.  Using air conditioners is compounding the problem of both overheating and battery drain, though there is little option.

From Robin Brailsford: "No one is reporting on the heat danger... And so you should be.   Many have no AC in their cars... And certainly no one can keep it going for 4 or 8 hours.  Are people getting food and water?  It's still 100F out there...  This is only going to get worse with rush hour, and CHP not allowing people to get outta there..."
