Dogs Attack, Kill Emu on Sierra Cielo

On Tuesday morning, at the end of Sierra Cielo Lane, two loose dogs attacked and killed a pet emu inside its enclosure on the Hornsby Ranch. "Eleanor Rigby" was killed by a pit bull mix (white with brown spots) and a brown Shepherd mix. These same dogs have been seen running loose frequently in the last few weeks. Animal control has been notified, but only one of the dogs has been secured.

Double-check your livestock, including large animals. Once dogs begin to kill for sport, they will continue to do so.
