"ANGEL" EMILY BENNETT

EMILY BENNETT, one of the sparkling lights of our community, passed away early Saturday morning, August 23rd, 2014.
Emily Bennett was the heart and soul of Deerhorn Valley for many decades. She was an original member of the Deerhorn Valley Volunteer Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary—back when there was no fire station and no fire equipment here. The first old truck the community purchased was housed at the Bennett's, and Emily’s "Quonset Hut" hosted many a community get-together—fundraisers, craft fairs, BBQ's, and more. Emily, along with her husband, Floyd, were instrumental in forming the DV Community Association in 1981, thereby beginning the drive for a fire truck, firefighting equipment, and ultimately a fire station/community building.
Emily was often called “Angel Emily,” by our Deerhorn community—and she was one of the kindest and truest human beings to ever walk this earth. The love and care she bestowed on our Valley is something we continue to cherish each and every day.
I will miss her. Our community will miss her.
Our deepest condolences go to her husband, Floyd, the entire Bennett Family, and the many people who were touched and inspired by this most wonderful woman.
