Thanks to an incredibly swift response, forward progress on the Otay Lakes Rd fire has been halted. CalFireSanDiego just tweeted: "Otay Fire held to 30 acres no structures damaged and no injuries. Final update." In an earlier post CERT officials reported that the potential could have been as much as 1,000 acres, according to a radio request for air support to Monte Vista.
Unlike the Fathers' Day scenario of multiple, concurrent fires, there were no other fires to weaken the response of CalFire, and they put everything onto this incident.
