CONTROL BURN MON-TUES IN JAMUL - TRAFFIC WOES

Forest Service and Dept of Fish and Wildlife will be conducting a controlled burn in Jamul area today, smoke will be visible"

Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler says crews will be burning brush Monday and Tuesday until about 4 p.m. to rid rural areas of wildfire fuels.

Two morning (non-injury) crashes have added to the construction backups on SR-94. Traffic in both directions was was stopped, including a tow truck attempting to respond to the first accident at Jefferson and Olive Vista. It involved two cars detouring around the construction area.  One car included several children headed to school.  Witnesses report the other car was attempting to get around the construction stop.  A responding tow truck was not allowed to get to the accident site by construction workers who said it needed a police escort.
CalFire watertanker, 4WD, and F&Wildlife truck all trapped in traffic
on 94 this morning. They were likely headed to the Control Burn.
This could be disastrous if we were faced with a fast-moving wildfire
or medical emergency.
A second accident happened about an hour later at 94 and Vista Sage causing more traffic backup, including this CALFIRE tanker and two other official vehicles headed toward the planned control burn.
